How to transfer your phone number
Want to keep your phone number?
Keep your existing phone number when you switch to Astound Mobile. This process is referred to as porting a phone number.
Contact your current service provider and do the following:
- Request a Porting PIN. This is needed to move your number over. Depending on your carrier, this may be a Number Transfer PIN, security PIN, account PIN or passcode. It’s specific to the line/number.
- Confirm your device is unlocked and can be ported to another service provider.
- Request removal of any blocks or requirements on your accounts so you can port.
- Ensure all balances are paid to your current service provider.
Information to have ready
When you are ready to port, make sure you have the following information ready:
- Mobile Phone Number
- Current Carrier
- Current Carrier Account Number and PIN
- ZIP Code

There are rare circumstances where you might not be able to transfer your phone number to our network.

What is porting?
Porting allows you to bring your phone number from your current carrier over to Astound Mobile.
How long will it take for your number to port?
Porting tends to be a quick process, but how long it takes often depends upon the carrier you’re porting from. Rest assured, we will do our best to make sure that the number gets ported as quickly as possible.
During this porting time, it’s helpful to have WiFi access and your new Astound SIM in hand. Once the port is successful, your phone number will move from your current carrier SIM to your Astound Mobile SIM. Once the port is complete, you will receive notifications letting you know that it’s time to pop insert your Astound Mobile SIM into your phone.
I am porting my number. Will I lose service during activation?
While we are waiting for your carrier to release your number, your old service continues to work with no interruption. It will continue to work until the moment you receive an in-app notification and email that your Astound Mobile activation was successful. Once you’re alerted that your activation was successful, your old carrier SIM will no longer work.
We do ask that you remain on WiFi during activation so you receive notifications alerting you when your activation is complete. Once you receive confirmation, you can insert your Astound Mobile SIM card.

When you input your current carrier’s account number, carrier PIN (Learn where to find this information), and billing ZIP code into the Astound Mobile app, we send a request to your carrier asking them to release your number to us. This is the part that can take about 2-4 hours (sometimes more depending upon the carrier).
What if I want a new phone number?
During the sign up process, you can decide whether you’d like a new phone number or if you’d like to port your current phone number to Astound Mobile service.
What's a Number Lock?
A Number Lock is a number protection feature that prevents your phone number from being transferred away from your carrier without your acknowledgement. You must remove the Number Lock to port your number over to Astound Mobile.
Please contact your current carrier to have your Number Lock removed. When you activate a Number Lock on your line, the number cannot be ported to another carrier until it’s removed.
